Students and faculty are invited to attend a presentation by visiting speaker Mr. Ronny Frith, an Ole Miss alumnus and a staff attorney and committee counsel for the Mississippi House of Representatives since 1977, as he speaks about his writing career and its intersection with public law and policies.

This event is part of the "I Get Paid to Write" Speaker Series sponsored by the Department of Writing and Rhetoric's Minor in Professional Writing.

Ronny Frith is from Jackson, Mississippi, and he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi.  His first and only job after graduation from law school in 1977 has been as a staff attorney and committee counsel for the Mississippi House of Representatives. As a result of his long service with the House in a variety of roles, he is often involved with interpretations of House Rules and Joint Rules and various legislative procedural issues for the House leadership and other members.

In addition to drafting bills and amendments for members of the House, he has served as counsel for a number of different committees during his legislative career.  His current committees are the Public Health and Human Services Committee, the Medicaid Committee, the Banking and Financial Services Committee, and the Appropriations Committee.

He also serves as co-counsel for the Joint Legislative Code Committee, acting as liaison between the Legislature and the publisher of the Mississippi Code and performing code revisor duties together with his co-counsel from the Senate.
