Feb

Princeton Professor of Early Christianity Dr. Elaine Pagels sets out to explain "why religion is still around today, through the lens of her lived tragedies-- the deaths of her son and husband 30 years ago" (NPR).  She discusses her childhood in a 'household of science;' discrimination and sexual assault as a graduate student; and how her own research interests and writings about the Gnostic Gospels helped navigate through her personal grief.  The Book Club will meet Feb. 5 to discuss chapts. 1-4; and then again on Feb. 12 to discuss chpts. 5-8.
