Anyone can come to Nutt Auditorium during lunchtime on Thursday 7 March to hear legendary drummer Billy Hart. He'll discuss and perform his work, and will talk about jazz, percussion, and life as a working musician.
Mark Stryker of the Detroit Free Press writes: "Freedom, discipline, daring, passion, swing, broken rhythm, orchestral textures, interactive sparring, shocking dynamics, astounding creativity and authority. Want to know what jazz is really about? Listen to Billy Hart."
Hart will work with a few students in open sessions that are meant to entertain and unpack the music for anyone with an interest in jazz -- a rare and fascinating opportunity. On campus, for free, and you are invited.
12:15-1:15 in Nutt Auditorium.
