Jos Milton, UM professor of music and noted tenor, presents Solitudes, a recital of art songs from England, Germany, and the United States that explores, musically and poetically, the emotional truths that can come from a period of seclusion or solitude.

Milton is joined by Adrienne Park on piano and John Ross on lute.  This is a rare opportunity to see a lute in live performance: in Solitudes, Ross, Milton, and Park will be performing the songs of John Dowland, known for the gorgeous melancholy created by lute and voice.

Milton and Park will also perform the work of Gurney, Barber, and Schumann, who put to music the poetry of William Butler Yeates, Walter de la Mare, John Fletcher, Joeph Campbell, and Heinrich Heine, as well as their own lyrics.

Part of the UM Music Faculty Recital Series.

Tickets are $10, $5 for students or anyone with a UM ID; available from the UM Box Office or at the door.

Eligible for both Music 100 and Music 103 credit.
