The University of Mississippi Division of Diversity and Community Engagement Dialogues on Diversity Series is a new initiative fostering institutional change through civil discourse. This semester, we've invited three dynamic and engaging speakers to lead dialogues on various topics relating to inclusion, intersectionality, identity, and leadership. All events listed below will be in the Student Union Ballroom from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. For more information or disability accommodations, please contact us at diversity@olemiss.edu or (662) 915-2933.

Tuesday, Oct. 29: "Disabusing Disability." Dr. Feranmi Okanlami, an entrepreneur, lecturer, disabilities advocate, physician and medical faculty member at the University of Michigan, tells his personal story of suffering from a spinal cord injury, which paralyzed him from the chest down with some return of motor function. He also discusses the importance of individuals acknowledging their own implicit biases about diversity and shares how institutions can increase diversity, equity, and inclusion and disseminate that knowledge throughout their institutions.
