Dr. Michael Gardiner applies his interest in music theory, structure, and design to creating ambient music.
"What draws me to laptop music as a medium is the new set of formal and organizational possibilities presented by software and coding languages, and sometimes the misuse thereof," he says. "It’s not so much the sounds themselves as what textures might become aligned, and how that alignment, that new connection speaks, in turn, to certain kinds of temporal and spatial organizations and openings."
Don't miss Gardiner's fascinating exploration of this musical genre.
