ACE Personal Trainer Prep Course

Online & In-person Workshops

$50 Registration Fee | Register online by February 9, 2022

February 14th - April 29th

Description: The objective of this course is to prepare prep course students in attaining the base knowledge needed to begin a part-time career in personal training. This course should prepare individuals with a basic knowledge in human anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition and the ability to apply these in order to deliver quality health and fitness programs for clients. This course, along with additional individual preparation, should give course participants the confidence to sit and pass their American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer certification exam. An online blackboard class will be utilized for the course information and weekly assignments, along with in-person practical application workshops. We will also prepare future personal trainers for initial meetings, fitness assessments, lifting technique, equipment selection and programming, and much more during these weekly workshops. This portion of the course schedule will be determined weekly, as the class progresses. A mock client fitness assessment and 1-hour long training session opportunity toward the end of the course will be used for those individuals who are interested in working as a CPT for Ole Miss Campus Recreation. Prep course participants should expect to cover a minimum of two chapters weekly and have weekly and written assignments to complete outside of the scheduled workshop meeting times. A syllabus to guide self-studying and exam preparation will be uploaded to the blackboard classroom. Participants are encouraged to contact the Fitness Leadership Team with any questions or concerns that may occur while enrolled in the semester long course.
