On Wednesday, November 9th at 7:30PM in the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, the musical forces of the University of Mississippi Chorus and Orchestra and members of the Oxford Civic Chorus will join together for a musical salute to all veterans of the United States military. This community event will feature many patriotic musical favorites including “America, the Beautiful,” “Salute to the Armed Forces,” “This is My Country,” and “God Bless America.” In addition to the musical offerings, special tributes will be presented including honoring current University of Mississippi student veterans, the veterans at the Veterans Home of Mississippi here in Oxford, and a special salute to veterans of loved ones and friends of local Oxford and Lafayette county citizens and of current Ole Miss students. For those citizens and students who would like to have their loved one or friend honored in our video tribute, please send a photo, with name, rank, and branch of service to Dr. Don Trott at dtrott@olemiss.edu and we will be
sure to include them. Deadline for submitting veteran photos is November 1. “I am hoping to honor many of our veterans in this way,” said Dr. Trott. “We are so proud to offer this musical tribute, and hope our local citizens will want to join us as we honor America and our veterans.”
