Prepare for adventure with this hands-on course that serves as an introduction to wilderness medicine. This course, taught over 2 days at Wall Doxey State Park (camping included!), is a great way to become more familiar with first aid practices where traditional EMS isn’t available quickly. If you’re a camp counselor, aspiring wilderness guide, or just love taking trips in the outdoors - this course is for you. You will learn how to assess a patient for injuries, how to provide effective first aid, stabilize patients for evacuation, and make the most effective evacuation decisions. You’ll be practicing skills both indoors and out, so come prepared to be cold, dirty, or wet depending on the weather.
