LecturesLectures: Journalism students tell how they traveled from Memphis to New Orleans to produce an acclaimed magazine on the 2011 Mississippi River Flood

Open to the Public

Full details:

Overby Fellow Bill Rose and his Ole Miss journalism students tell how they traveled from Memphis to New Orleans to produce an acclaimed magazine on federal efforts to control the Mississippi River. The class will discuss how close 2011’s “Flood of the Century” came to overwhelming weakened levees and concrete and steel flood control structures. The class based its stories on interviews with flood victims, levee boards and the general in charge of the big river. The event is free and open to the public.
