UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES


The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Dr. Alex Piquero—the No. 1 ranked criminologist in the world since 1996 in terms of scholarly publications in elite criminology and criminal justice journals—will serve as the next Visiting Research Scholar, March 22-23, 2018, hosted by the School of Applied Sciences.

Piquero is an Ashbel Smith Professor of Criminology and the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed articles in the areas of criminal careers, crime prevention, criminological theory and quantitative research methods and has been cited over 29,000 times. He has collaborated on several books, including “Key Issues in Criminal Careers Research: New Analyses from the Cambridge Study in Delinquent Development” and the “Handbook of Quantitative Criminology.”

Nationally renown for their presentations, strong research publication record, and national competitive grant award record, speakers invited to the School of Applied Sciences’ Visiting Research Scholars Forum provide presentations, small group discussions and individualized mentorship sessions to interested faculty, including a meritorious lectureship for a university-wide audience.
