The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.


Faculty Recital Series: Michael Rowlett, Clarinet

The second concert of the Faculty Recital Series features clarinetist Michael Rowlett and pianist Stacy Rodgers, performing a colorful selection of pieces inspired by popular music. The program includes a sonata for clarinet and piano by contemporary American composer Kenji Bunch. TitledCookbook, Bunch’s work will be performed alongside a short film by Joe York, featuring images from his work with the Southern Foodways Alliance 

The recital will also include a performance of X, a concerto for clarinet by Scott McAllister that was inspired by Seattle “grunge” music, particularly the songs of Nirvana. The program is rounded out with a suite of music originally written for the BBC television program “The Victorian Kitchen Garden” and Argentine composer Carlos Guastavino’s lyrical Tonada y Cueca.  Don’t miss this innovative and exciting program! 

Tickets: $8 general admission, $5 for students. 


This concert is approved for attendance credit for Music 100 and Music 103.
