UM low brass professor Micah Everett will be giving a recital of original works and arrangements for alto trombone, tenor trombone, bass trombone, and euphonium on Thursday, February 6, at 7:30pm in Nutt Auditorium on the Ole Miss campus.
The recital will open with Three Medieval Dances, arranged for solo alto trombone by renowned trombone soloist Christian Lindberg. Pianist Stacy Rodgers will join Everett for the remainder of the recital, beginning with an oboe concerto by Domenico Cimarosa (1749-1801), arranged for euphonium by Pat Stuckemeyer. The first half will close with a new piece for tenor trombone and piano by Amy Riebs Mills entitled Red Dragonfly, which was premiered at the International Trombone Festival last summer.
The second half will begin with a bass trombone and piano work by Johan de Meij (b. 1953) entitled Canticles, and conclude with Everett and Rodgers being joined by Michael Worthy on bass and Ricky Burkhead on drums for Bill Pearce’s arrangement of Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho.
