Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy: 'Music of the Spheres'
Event Description:
UM's performing faculty group Mockingbird Early Music Ensemble joins with the University Museum in a program of celestial music from the time of Galileo and Kepler. Music of Frescobaldi, Marini, Castello and other Italian composers will be performed on instruments of the period. Marco Cavaglia, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, will read from the writings of Galileo and Kepler. Those who arrive by 1:15 p.m. will be able to see Cavaglia demonstrate some of the astronomical instruments in the University Museum's collection.
