UM's performing faculty group Mockingbird Early Music Ensemble joins with the University Museum in a program of celestial music from the time of Galileo and Kepler. Music of Frescobaldi, Marini, Castello and other Italian composers will be performed on instruments of the period. Marco Cavaglia, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, will read from the writings of Galileo and Kepler. Those who arrive by 1:15 p.m. will be able to see Cavaglia demonstrate some of the astronomical instruments in the University Museum's collection.

An exhibit of work by Mississippi native Walter Anderson, one of America's greatest artists. The exhibit opened during the 16th annual Oxford Conference for the Book, which celebrated Anderson's life and work. It will remain open through January. The public is welcome to view the exhibit during regular library hours: 1 p.m.—2 a.m. Sunday, 7 a.m.—2 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m.—7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.—6 p.m. Saturday.

UM's Blues Archive, housed in the J.D. Williams Library, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. A public exhibition in Archives and Special Collections features material from many of the archived collections, including B.B. King, Sheldon Harris, Kenneth Goldstein, Trumpet Records, Living Blues magazine, Percy Mayfield and The Red Tops. Using portable audio/video players available onsite, visitors touring the elaborate display will be able to hear musical selections and view interviews with blues recording artists. Scheduled for a yearlong run, the exhibition is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Displayed items will rotate throughout the year.

The men's ministry of First Baptist Church and the Ole Miss Fellowship of Christian Athletes are sponsoring a fish fry and fellowship for men from throughout the Oxford community. The event celebrates a new partnership between FBC and the FCA.
Jason Cook, fullback for the Rebels in 2005—07 seasons and the team's current chaplain, will present the gospel. Todd Johnson, director of the Ole Miss FCA chapter, also will talk about the group's mission and impact.

Mark Kleiman, professor of public policy at UCLA, discusses his new book "When Brute Force Fails." Besides his academic work, Kleiman advises local, state and national governments on crime control and drug policy. Before joining UCLA in 1995, he taught at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and at the University of Rochester. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Justice as director of policy and management analysis for the criminal division, for the city of Boston as deputy director for management of the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget, for the Polaroid Corporation as special assistant to the CEO and on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant to Congressman Les Aspin. He graduated from Haverford College, majoring in political science, philosophy and economics, and completed master's and doctoral degrees at the Kennedy School.
