Personal Trainer Prep Course (open to currently enrolled UM students only)

Meeting Days & Times: September 29^th, 2020 – November 24^th, 2020 every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Description: The objective of this course is to prepare prep course students in attaining the base knowledge needed to begin a part-time career in personal training. This course should prepare individuals with a basic knowledge in human anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition and the ability to apply these in order to deliver quality health and fitness programs for clients. This course, along with additional individual preparation, should give course participants the confidence to sit and pass their ACE PT certification exam. An online blackboard class will also be utilized for the course information and weekly assignments, along with a hybrid classroom format including zoom calls and in person meetings. Zoom call schedule and in person meeting will be determined weekly, as the class progresses. An audition process toward the end of the course will be used for those individuals who are interested in working as a PT for Ole Miss Campus Recreation. Prep course participants should expect to cover a minimum of two chapters weekly and have weekly and written assignments to complete outside of the scheduled class meeting times.
