Steffen Höhne is Dean of the Institute of Music and Professor of Cultural Studies and Arts Management at the University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar, Germany. He has written extensively on German-Czech relations, the former Habsburg Empire, and Central and East European Culture. His current research focuses on cultural politics in Germany and cultural and intellectual history in Central and Eastern Europe since the eighteenth century. He has been a visiting professor in the United States, France, Denmark, Finland, and the Czech Republic. Höhne’s presentation concerns the relationship between Trieste’s memorial policies and the city’s changing political fortunes from the eighteenth to the mid-twentieth century.
