The rich and powerful low brass instruments take the spotlight in a free concert on April 23rd, as trombone, tuba, and euphonium perform pieces in a variety of styles. Catch them in their last local performance before they perform, by invitation, at their respective international conferences this summer -- premiere international events for these instruments. It's a great honor, and Ole Miss Music could not be prouder of our students and of Dr. Micah Everett, director of the low brass studio.
These are the biggies -- tuba, euphonium, trombone -- and the music is rich with a surprising range. The program features a few arrangements that were created specifically for the UM ensembles, as well as a few selections from popular film scores. The tuba-euphonium ensemble will, for example, perform a haunting arrangement of "Misty Mountains Cold," from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Don't miss the last performance of the year from UM's low brass studio: these musicians are so good!
Admission is free and open to all.
Eligible for Music 100/103 credit.
