The award-winning Akropolis Reed Quintet will be on the University of Mississippi campus to offer masterclasses and an Akropolis WORKS Entrepreneurship Boot Camp for UM music students, and a public recital at 1:00 pm.
Akropolis is the winner of 7 national chamber music prizes including a 2014 Fischoff Gold Medal, and next year is its 10th anniversary season. ARQ has commissioned 50 works for reed quintet and its new music festival in Detroit is funded in part by a prestigious National Endowment for the Arts Art Works grant. ARQ is a winner of the Fischoff Educator Award and delivers dozens of college workshops each year on music performance and business.
Akropolis Reed Quintet’s visit to UM is made possible by the Department of Music, the Olel Miss Bands, and the College of Liberal Arts.
The 1:00 recital is eligible for MUS 100 and MUS 103 credit.
