The Faculty Woodwind Quintet is excited to welcome two new members, flutist Nave Graham and oboist Austin Smith. On Sunday, November 10th, the quintet will perform a program that reflects on the idea of memory and memorials. From the ethereal textures of Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin, arranged here for woodwind quintet, to Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Memoria, a moving tribute to fellow composer Luciano Berio, the quintet explores pieces that were written to remember, to memorialize, and to reflect. Other works include Valerie Coleman’s Spirituals, Giuseppe Cambini’s Quintet No. 1, and Eurico Carrapatoso’s Cinco Elegias. It will be, quite literally, a night to remember!
