UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Join host Nancy Maria Balach for a conversation with Byron Asher and members of SKRONTCH about this fascinating musical project.

How do you explore the intertwining histories of jazz and anti-Jim Crow activism in New Orleans -- musically? How do you honor early jazz traditions and jazz clarinet masters with a contemporary sound? How does collective improvisation work? And where did the name SKRONTCH come from, anyway?!
