Are You Ready? Dialogue Series: Moving Spirits: History of Slavery and Civil Rights Through Movement, Dance, and Song

We walk past history in plain site, on a daily basis. Do you know the stories of the enslaved persons who built the buildings you walk into on a daily basis? What is the ideology behind the symbols we walk by every day? Witness the process of members of the Lafayette/Oxford/University of Mississippi community not only learn their local history, but also literally embody it. This event will feature viewing of the film “Moving Spirits” and live Q&A with filmmakers Jennifer Mizenko and Rhondalyn Peairs.

The AYR dialogues series seeks to provide space for participants to learn about challenging topics, listen to fellow campus and community members share their perspectives and knowledge, and take away skills and practices they can implement for themselves and within their communities at the University of Mississippi and beyond.
