Description: The objective of this course is to prepare prep course students in feeling confident teaching many different modalities of group fitness, to deliver a quality experience to their future class participants, prepare to take and pass their American Council on Exercise certification exam, and potentially audition to become a group fitness instructor with Ole Miss Campus Recreation. The course will provide base knowledge in group fitness fundamentals, class preparation and design, elements of leading various classes, and much more! An online blackboard class will be utilized for the course information and weekly assignments, along with opportunities for in-person workshops. In-person workshops will be determined once registration closes and class participant schedules can be compared. Prep course participants should expect to cover a minimum of two chapters weekly and have weekly and written assignments to complete outside of the scheduled workshop meeting times. Participants are encouraged to contact the Fitness Leadership Team with any questions or concerns that may occur while studying online.
