Lifeguard Course (I)

Do you plan to be a lifeguard in the Summer? We can certify you! Participants must be able to attend all meetings, and should be strong swimmers. Participants will receive training in American Red Cross lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED use. Participants must register by Wednesday, February 23rd to join the course.

Lifeguard Course Health and Safety plan:

All participants will be required to wear a mask while in the classroom setting. All lifeguard courses will be capped at 12 participants. Participants will meet in classes that have been approved to host classes within the Turner Center. Individuals will only be able to remove their masks while in the water practicing American Red Cross lifeguarding skills. Moreover, participants will be under the supervision of a Campus Recreation instructor. Shared practice materials will be disinfected after each use. For practicing skills, such as CPR, all participants will be given their own individual resuscitation mask. During CPR and other skills, participants will be required to wear and use PPE (personal protective equipment).
