LAW AND HONOR
Dr. Kwame Anthony Appiah
Thursday, March 31, 2022
4:30-6:00pm
Student Union Ballroom
About the Speaker: Dr. Kwame Anthony Appiah is an American philosopher, novelist, and scholar of African and African American studies, best known for his contributions to political philosophy, moral psychology, and the philosophy of culture. Named one of Foreign Policy’s Top 100 public intellectuals and awarded a National Humanities Medal by The White House, Appiah currently teaches at NYU.
About the Dunbar Lecture: We often come across discussions of policy-related issues in law, and frequently hear about particular laws being passed by congress or considered by courts. But we rarely take the time to ask basic questions, such as “What is law?” Established in 1987 by Jack and Wylene Dunbar, the Dunbar Lecture in Philosophy and Law invites nationally renowned public intellectuals to the University of Mississippi campus to explore philosophical themes in law, and to stimulate creative and analytical thinking concerning the law’s role in society.
