Archives & Special Collections Recipe Swap Open House
Thursday, April 20th from 11am to 3pm
Located on the 3rd floor of the J.D. Williams Library
A selection of 50+ cookbooks and manuscript recipes in the archives dating from the 18th through the 21st centuries will be available to browse. Photograph recipes which capture your interest and test them out at home!
Dr. Alex Lindgren-Gibson and her History 492 "Food: A Global History" will speak briefly from 11:30 to noon about the history of recipes and some of their favorite family dishes.
Although not necessary, we invite you to bring and donate the following:
· A copy of your own favorite family recipe(s) along with a brief written account of memories related to the recipe and its particular significance to your family.
· Old cookbooks related to Mississippi and the South
When you are not browsing recipes, explore “The Southern Plate: An Archival Exhibition on Food”!
