UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Ms. Elizabeth Goreth, a promising undergraduate student at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, will tell us why eclipses happen and what is the physics behind them.

We will learn how to make our own pinhole camera to safely view the upcoming solar eclipses on Oct. 24th 2023 and Apr. 8th 2024 which are visible in most parts of the USA. 

This talk is aimed at the general public, including children.
