UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

This workshop will explore academic publishing, with a particular focus on author rights and publishing agreements. In this workshop, we will:

1) Discuss the differences between traditional publishing and open access publishing, especially how those two models could affect the rights to your work.

2) Review Creative Commons licensing, which is commonly applied to articles published open access

3) Review publishing agreements from several publishers
