On March 20, 2024 at 7:30PM in First Presbyterian Church located at 824 Van Buren Avenue, the University of Mississippi Concert Singers will present representative choral music from the Renaissance. Composers will include Arcadelt, Certon, Dowland, Dunstable, Handl, Josquin, di Lasso, Le Jeune, Palestrina, Sermisy, Tallis, Tomkins, Victoria, and Wilbye. Special guest, Dr. Dennis Shrock, noted author and choral music historian, will be the choir’s guest conductor. According to Dr. Donald Trott, Director of Ole Miss Choral Activities, “Bringing Dr. Shrock to the Ole Miss campus and working with our students is a fantastic opportunity to emerse ourselves into the world of Renaissance music. As Dr. Shrock so clearly states, “…when simply blows the dust off of the Renaissance scores as one does with restoration of historic paintings, one finds the true beauty of the music.” The program presents both sacred and secular repertoire.
