Transcribing Audio & Video with Whisper
Interested in content creation, research with audio or video, or data processing? Want to learn more about a free tool for transcribing audiovisual content? This Open Access Week session will focus on Whisper, a widely used open source tool for transcribing audiovisual content. We'll explore its features, practical applications, and demonstrate how to use the tool for automating transcription tasks.
Participants are welcome to listen and watch or follow along with the demonstration on their own devices. If you'd like to follow along with the session demonstration, please make sure you have installed Whisper and its dependencies (particularly ffmpeg) before you arrive. You can follow these step by step instructions on installing ffmpeg and Whisper. Please note that the instructions are written for Windows OS and were created for students using a Jupyter Notebook; if you'd like to use another environment, you are welcome to do so.
